Good News of Dunia,a means of Good News of Akhira? [inshaa’Allah]

Asalamoalaykum warahmatullah,

Fridays are my favourite days, it’s when the sun is shining despite the mountains of snow in my mind’s eye. I have that special energy in my heart that makes me drive throughout the day. SubhanAllah, it is usually a day most people are obviously looking forward to because it’s the end of a busy week and a beginning of an adventure-packed weekend. For me, weekends are just as work-packed but alhamdolilah, it’s the Jumua’h prayer that brings light to my Friday. Brothers are very fortunate that they are highly, highly, highly recommended to pray in congregation in times other than just the Friday prayer. No doubt, praying in congregation fosters love between the community members and in turn unity as well.

This Friday was a source of some excellent news for most of us in the Wild-West of the ‘North Pole’. I got it just before going out for my daily routine and I was at the verge of tears (happy ones). Allah SWT has blessed my city with so much in spite of so many of us who neglect Him. My brother knew who the next speakers for the One Ummah Conference were (*roll eyes*) but I’m guessing they were probably asked to swear to secrecy that they mustn’t let the public know. As much as annoying that is, may Allah SWT reward him for his loyalty. Ameen. So they made us guess like crazy on their fb page about who the next speakers were. Indeed this One Ummah conference will be remembered for years inshaa’Allah for all the hype it created.

We have a smashing line-up mashaa’Allah and I invite every reader to make the intention to attend this conference. Inshaa’Allah, at least you’ll get reward for the intention!

It’s always interesting what one’s thoughts are about a certain person before they come and how Allah SWT always makes them exceed our expectations. Allahu Akbar. It is evident how Allah SWT has placed the acceptance of these people of knowledge in hearts of many. May Allah SWT be pleased with them and us all.Ameen.

So who are the speakers? I’m super excited. In all honesty, I was literally jumping up and down and inshaa’Allah it’s all for His Sake. Alhamdolilah.

1. Sh. Ahsan Hanif: he’s taught us ‘Echoes of the Cave’ (tafseer Surah Al Kahf) and blew away C-city’s minds with the methodology of  tafseer. He has a very different sense of humor in which he loves comparing our end of the world with his. Typically British, but a very beloved one at that, all for the Sake of Allah SWT. Suffice to say that coupled with his extremely peaceful recitation, he is the most favourite person and we are anxiously awaiting his safe arrival inshaa’Allah. May Allah SWT bless him and his family.ameen.

2.Sh. Abu Taubah: oooh I just got introduced to him a few months back via his website. Like I said before, he seems a kind of person who has absorbed ‘Ilm to his very core (due to his classical background of learning I suppose) and that reflects in his ideology and his manner of teaching diverse topics from Arabic to martial arts. His acceptance of the invite is a dream come true. SubhanAllah. May Allah SWT bless him and all of his family.Ameen.

3. Sh. AbdulBary Yahya: my favouritest person again! An awesome person to learn from in general. But more specifically, he had very helpful tips on disciplining kids. There’s one thing that stands out about him (besides his intriguing Vietnamese origin) mashaa’Allah and you see, one learns from the Akhlaq and Adab too of these wonderful people of knowledge…and that is, when he laughs or ends up laughing he says ‘La ilaha illah’ continuously! We all know laughter makes our hearts dead and during that very time we are ‘out of control’ and I love the way this Shaykh controls himself. A gem of a person. May Allah SWT bless him and his family.Ameen.

4. Sh. Yassir Fazaga: I didn’t get a chance to meet him previously but according to his youtube videos, he seems my kind of a teacher, inshaa’Allah another favourite? And that is because he relates Islamic concepts to sociology and psychology. Very knowledgeable and it’s always interesting to hear such people and have such people because they are well respected by those who like to think about Islam from a different mind-set. His talks are very intellectually stimulating.Mashaa’Allah. May Allah SWT bless him and his family.Ameen.

5.  Sh. Mohammed Al Faqih: when we met him, we as a city were impressed with the level of Akhlaq he showed. I think it was his talks that changed me profoundly by the Fadl of Allah SWT. He is so gentle that if I ever had the chance, I would want to learn the proper mannerisms of dealing with people from him. A truly beautiful person mashaa’Allah to let your kids to learn from. May Allah SWT bless him and his family.Ameen.

6. Last but not the least, our very own: Sh. Saeed Rageah: he was the University chaplain 4 years ago here and I wish he still was here so badly. Anyway, it was Qadr but that didn’t stop him from visiting us now and then. He is that person who has a combination of hikmah, gentleness, humor and appropriate level of strictness that a teacher MUST have to control his students. Allah SWT has blessed him immensely and he is very much loved by the crowd of C-city. If people know that he’s coming to town, they rush to his halaqaat (that’s probably why not most of the people get to know when he’s in town for his own business). And that’s all considering C-city’s Muslim community to only very recently have had reached infancy, in my opinion. May Allah SWT bless him and protect him and his family. Ameen.

7. Sh. Hacene Chebbani: our beloved Shaykh, known as a man of wisdom, may Allah SWT bless him for his patience he shows for our community. Surviving and thriving mashaa’Allah la quwata illabillah. He will be the host and inshaa’Allah I’m sure a very excellent one.

8. Sh. Kamal el Mekki: we never get enough of him. He’s that good! Mashaa’Allah. With extreme respect I say this as a form of introduction, he’s the ‘cool-dude’ Shaykh who has our maturing youth on track by the Extreme Mercy of Allah SWT. We are indeed ever so blessed to have him. The balance of good sense of humor and seriousness is not found in many and we hope that Allah SWT continues to allow us to benefit from these two traits this Shaykh has. May Allah SWT bless him too and his wonderfully lovely family.Ameen.

Two brothers started an initiative to make the event more popular and it indeed has worked according to our audience. Tickets are running out and we pray to Allah SWT that as we all reserve our tickets to this conference, Allah SWT reserves our places in Jannatul Firdaus.Ameen.

We all should be extra thankful now and let not these beautiful forms of Mercy slip away because of our ungratefulness. This thankfulness should be not a mere lip-service of ‘Alhamdolilah’. Rather it should manifest in our actions (staying away from sins + hastening in good deeds) and in the state of our hearts. Hearts that are emptied from the love of anything and anyone except Allah SWT.

And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: “If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allâh), I will give you more (of My Blessings), but if you are thankless (i.e. disbelievers), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe.” (7) And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you count the Blessings of Allâh, never will you be able to count them. Verily! man is indeed an extreme wrong-doer, – a disbeliever (an extreme ingrate, denies Allâh’s Blessings by disbelief, and by worshipping others besides Allâh, and by disobeying Allâh and His Prophet Muhammad SAW). (34) [Surah Ibrahim]

May Allah SWT help us become a true community of Tawheed and make us reflect that in our Akhlaq and hence Dawah to non-Muslims.Ameen.

May Allah SWT unite all of us in Jannatul Firdaus together, those who come and attend and those who intend to. And may we all together recall these wonderful gatherings of Angels and people of knowledge as we get the glad tidings of His Acceptance of us in Jannah. Again, may this good news of this dunia be connected to good news of Akhira.Ameen.

May Allah SWT forgive me for my transgressions because I’m the one who’s most in need to be guided.Ameen.

And Allah SWT knows best.
