Seeking Refuge from Asking of which one has no Knowledge

Nûh (Noah) said: “O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I will indeed be one of the losers.” [Surah Hud, 11:47]

If one reads verses 45-47 of Surah Hud, it becomes clear why Prophet Nuh AS sought refuge. Few points that stood out for me were that instead of being hurt that Allah SWT called his son not those from his family, he repented. What a beautiful approach of a humble Mo’min. Just like the Angels who upon inquiring Allah SWT for the reasoning behind Prophet Adam’s creation, immediately glorified Allah SWT and accepted their lack of knowledge:

They (angels) said: “Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise.” [Surah Al Baqarah, 2:32]

Isn’t Quraan beautiful? Allah SWT’s Words instill in us so many wonderful qualities and that too in such a powerful way. Who wouldn’t want to prostrate to Him? :)

Note to self: Very important duaa to memorize.
