Smile: A Veil

Bismillahir-rahman-nirahim

In the Name of Allah SWT-the Always All Merciful, the Especially Merciful

Asalamoalaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

May Allah’s Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon you all

If we didn’t have people who sacrifice their happiness and take the bitter cold route…we wouldn’t have so many people who can sleep at night and can wake up the next morning, smiling with the sunshine. These people use their smiles as their veils. Sometimes that veil might be lifted and the victim may be revealed. If such is the case, don’t pity them. Instead pat their back and thank them. Shake their hand and give them a hug. For if it were not for them fearing their God, there would be much chaos in this world.

“It is not (Birr) righteousness that you turn your faces towards East or West(Qiblah).

But it is righteousness to believe in Allah and the Last Day,

And the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers;

To spend of your substance, out of love for Him,

For your kin, for orphans, for the needy,

for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves;

To be steadfast in prayer (Salah)

And give in charity(Zakah);

To fulfill the contracts which you have made;

And to be firm and patient, in pain(ailment) and adversity (disease)

And throughout all periods of panic.

Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing(Al Mutaqqun).

[Qur’aan, Al-Baqarah, 2:177]

A little kindness or a gentle word would probably heal their broken hearts. They may not show it. But they may need it. They may not ask for their rights but you should be extra conscious about giving them theirs. They are inshaa’Allah Allah SWT’s special people.

Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.

Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.

[Qur’aan, Ash-Sharh, 94:5-6]

Remind them that their aim is Jannatul Firdaus and people of Jannatul Firdaus will be especially tested. Hold their hand and read to them the following verse:

“Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods, lives, and the fruits of your toil. But give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere. Those who say, when afflicted with calamity, ‘To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return.’ They are those on whom descend blessings from their Lord, and mercy. They are the ones who receive guidance.” (2:155-157)

Inna-lilahay wa-ina-ilayhi ra’ji’oon.

As I struggle in this Dunia, my heart starts to burn…

It’s for His Sake I’ll hate and it’s For His Sake I’ll yearn,

Because…to Allah SWT I truly belong, and to only Him I shall Return.
